Swedish companies in Asia offer paid traineeships to international graduates

Hai Dang, Head of People Experience at SKF Vietnam, says graduates who have studied in Sweden bring valuable international experience and fresh perspectives to the workplace.

Thirty former international students from Swedish universities will begin paid traineeships at Swedish companies abroad in 2026 through a programme launched by the Swedish Institute.

The programme includes 21 Swedish companies in 14 countries, with Vietnam and Indonesia among the participating countries in Asia.

In Vietnam, Swedish engineering company SKF will welcome three trainees with expertise in data analytics, machine learning and business intelligence.

“As a Swedish company, we share many of the values that students absorb while studying in Sweden: collaboration, openness, a flat and trust-based way of working, and a strong focus on sustainability and innovation,” said Hai Dang, Head of People Experience at SKF Vietnam.

The traineeships are designed to give graduates practical work experience while helping Swedish companies recruit international talent with knowledge of Swedish working culture.

The programme is run by the Swedish Institute in collaboration with Swedish embassies. The internships are funded through a monthly stipend from the Swedish Institute, and the next application round will open in 2027.
