TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received the Loka Praja Samrakshana Medal of Honor from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo during the Indonesian National Police’s 80th anniversary, or Bhayangkara Day, ceremony in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday, July 1.
The medal, presented at the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) Training Center in Cikeas, is awarded to individuals recognized for their contributions to public security and the development of the Indonesian National Police.
According to the National Police, Prabowo was honored for supporting the force’s efforts in public protection, law enforcement, and maintaining national security.
The title Loka Praja Samrakshana is derived from Sanskrit and translates roughly as “protector of the people, the nation, and the state.”
Former President Joko Widodo received the same honor in October 2024, shortly before leaving office, in recognition of his contributions to the development of the National Police.
The ceremony also awarded honorary ranks to three retired senior police officials: former People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Sidarto Danusubroto, former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Taufiequrachman Ruki, and former State Minister for Administrative Reform Taufiq Effendi.
In addition, the National Police presented the Samkaryanugraha Nugraha Sakanti award to several police units and regional police commands, while outstanding police personnel from various ranks received the Bintang Bhayangkara Narariya decoration.
