According to him, the law must protect the people, especially the vulnerable groups.
He emphasized that, as a country founded on the rule of law, the government is responsible for ensuring legal protection and justice for all citizens.
“The law must be a refuge for the weak. The law must not be sharp toward those below, blunt toward those above. It should not be a tool for those with money,” he said at the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration at the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) Training Unit in Cikeas, Bogor District, West Java, on Wednesday.
The president therefore reminded law enforcement officials that the law must never be used to serve political interests or benefit certain groups.
He also reminded law enforcement officers to refrain from discrimination and abuse of authority.
“The law must not be a tool for political revenge or to benefit any group. There must be no criminalization and abuse of authority,” Prabowo stated.
Furthermore, the head of state stressed that the country must protect vulnerable communities while ensuring that those seeking justice receive the services they deserve.
“The most vulnerable people must receive protection. People seeking truth and justice must be served. Those who are right must feel safe. Those who are guilty must be held accountable for their actions,” he pointed out.
Prabowo also reminded the National Police of its role as the guardian of Indonesia’s democracy, ensuring that every citizen can express their views peacefully.
President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the 80th Bhayangkara Day ceremony in Bogor on Wednesday, which carried the theme “80 Years of Police Service to the Community.”
