Samsung is expected to launch its next flagship Wear OS smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, on July 22, 2026, at a Galaxy Unpacked event. With only a few days to go for their arrival, the brands seem to be updating their companion app for smartphones, Galaxy Wearable, with support for the new models.
Samsung has released an update to the Galaxy Wearable app for Android phones. It carries version 2.2.70.26060861. According to the changelog, it brings two changes. One of them is “Supports new devices” (via Galaxy Alerts). While the company hasn’t specified the devices, we suspect them to be the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
It suggests that the arrival of the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is near. The other change is “One UI optimisation and improved app stability”. This is basically a performance improvement change. To get the latest Galaxy Wearable update, go to Galaxy Store > Menu > Updates > Update all.
Speaking of the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, leaks about them have revealed their design and band options. However, there isn’t much information available about the hardware upgrades they will offer. Some reports about them suggest that they will offer only marginal hardware upgrades.
