The display looks suspiciously like MiP or ePaper, as the black on the watch face is far less dark than one would expect from an AMOLED panel, the surface appears matte rather than glossy, and, at least on this watch face, Amazfit has completely omitted color. While MiP displays can display colors, they aren’t nearly as vibrant as those on AMOLED panels, which is why black-and-white watch faces are relatively popular on these types of watches.
As usual, such rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. It cannot be ruled out that Amazfit simply edited an image for social media using AI tools, which could have caused the differences between the watch shown and existing Amazfit models. This is also supported by the fact that the person in the image is wearing the watch upside down. However, based on clues in the Zepp Health app’s code, it’s likely that Amazfit is working on at least one solar-powered smartwatch.
