Nagpur has the potential to emerge as India’s MRO hub, civil aviation minister, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, said on June 25, adding the city may become an “aerotropolis of India”. He added that MRO can become one of the main pillars of growth at the airport.
“I can say that Nagpur is the most suitable place for an MRO hub geographically, weather-wise, and in terms of connectivity and strategy. From every perspective, Nagpur is ideally suited to become the country’s MRO hub,” he noted, pointing out that larger MRO capacity would also prevent Indian airlines from foreign dependencies.
According to ch-aviation data, companies already providing MRO services at the airport include AAR (United States of America) subsidiary AAR Indamer Technics and AIESL (India), serving companies such as Air India Express, Blue Dart Aviation, IndiGo Airlines, Air India, Go First, and Kuwait Airways.
