Unlike Sam, who has a much healthier relationship than I do with the tech that is almost certainly most definitely spying on us, there are a lot of smart gadgets in my house, though I do have to admit after going full bore and upgrading every bulb and device in my home to a smart one, I realized I messed up a bit and I have slowly been getting rid of them when not completely necessary. Other than a mesh Wi-Fi system — which has removed all my previous connectivity headaches and gives me full bars whether I’m at my desk, on my balcony or in the hammock at the edge of the yard — the one thing I wouldn’t want to live without is my keyless entry.
I have an older version of this Schlage smart lock, which allows me to keep my deadbolts old school, but there are plenty of them out there with or without deadbolt capabilities from companies like Yale (with Nest integrations for those who use Google Home), eufy, myQ (who also makes my favorite garage door keypad), Philips and Aqara (for my Apple Home peeps out there).
It’s been so long since I’ve used my house keys that I legitimately have no idea where they are. I should probably go find them…. — Chris McGraw, Senior Deals Writer
