“In almost every key area of government, I have included professors in highly decisive positions,” he said at the opening of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) in Jakarta on Friday.
Prabowo explained that the ultimate goal of governance is to ensure a prosperous and dignified life for the people. Therefore, the government must be capable of addressing challenges while actively seeking solutions to national issues.
He affirmed that he has long recognized the critical role scientists and professors play in governance. As a result, they have been entrusted with strategic positions that carry significant decision-making responsibilities.
The president stressed that a leader’s success is determined not only by the leader’s own abilities but also by the quality of the team supporting them.
Prabowo also underscored that the primary driver of success is not merely technology or sophisticated equipment, but the quality of the human resources operating and utilizing them.
On the occasion, the president expressed his appreciation for KSTI, which brings together scientists and academics to discuss a wide range of strategic national issues.
The KSTI National Symposium is being held from June 26–28, 2026, under the theme “Strategies for Economic Independence and Indonesian Welfare.”
The event features symposiums and panel discussions on agriculture, energy, economics and finance, food security, maritime affairs and fisheries, downstreaming, and industry.
On Saturday (June 27), American economist Jeffrey Sachs is scheduled to deliver a public lecture to thousands of lecturers from universities across Indonesia.
The event will conclude on Sunday (June 28) with the launch of the 2026 national research roadmap by Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto. President Prabowo is scheduled to officially close the event.
