Hormuud Telecom Pledges Support for New Institute of Indonesia and Africa Studies | Dawan Africa


Mogadishu — Hormuud Telecom pledged support for Hormuud University’s new Institute of Indonesia and Africa Studies (IIIAS) to advance research and academic ties between Somalia and Indonesia.

Bashir Abdullahi Sahal, Deputy CEO of Hormuud Telecom, speaking at the launch ceremony, said IIIAS is an important initiative that will make a significant contribution to higher education, research, innovation, and knowledge exchange between Somalia, Indonesia, and Africa more broadly.

Bashir commended the leadership of Hormuud University, its lecturers, students, and the entire university community, praising their efforts in establishing the new institute.

“On behalf of the great company Hormuud Telecom, its senior management, staff, and affiliated institutions, we pledge to stand by you and provide support and funding,” said Bashir.

He noted that Hormuud University was born out of a genuine need to produce young Somalis with the knowledge and skills required by the labor market, particularly in technology, telecommunications, and modern sciences.

Bashir added that the university has graduated thousands of students and expanded into various faculties and academic programs, reflecting its visible contribution to the advancement of higher education in the country.
