Indonesia deports three Chinese nationals over visa fraud

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s immigration authorities deported three Chinese nationals after finding they had manipulated sponsor information and submitted false documents to obtain visas, authorities said.

The three individuals, identified by the initials YJ, CN and LJ, entered Indonesia using pre-investment visit visas (C12) and business visas (C1 and C2) obtained through fraudulent means.

“They were repatriated via Juanda International Airport on China Southern Airlines flight CZ8138 from Surabaya to Guangzhou,” Surabaya Immigration Office Head Agus Winarto said in a statement on Friday.

Agus said the three violated Indonesia’s immigration law by misusing their stay permits and obtaining visas through false statements and manipulated supporting documents.

In addition to deportation, all three were barred from re-entering Indonesia for five years.

According to Agus, the violations were uncovered after immigration officers detected irregularities in the foreigners’ immigration records and supporting paperwork.

The three entered Indonesia using single-entry visit visas intended for foreigners preparing investment or business activities in the country.

However, investigators found the visas had been secured using inaccurate sponsor information and falsified documents submitted during the application process.

“Discrepancies emerged when immigration records did not match the sponsor information contained in the documents used to support their visa applications,” he said.

Officers also discovered that visa application files submitted by YJ and CN contained identical stamp-duty serial numbers, suggesting systematic document manipulation.

Further field investigations found that the stated business and investment purposes cited in their visa applications were not genuine.

“They never intended to invest or conduct business activities in Indonesia,” Agus said.

Immigration authorities proceeded with deportation and blacklisting measures after determining the three had breached immigration regulations.

Agus said the escort, inspection and departure processes were carried out safely and smoothly under the supervision of officers from the Surabaya Special Class I Immigration Office.

He said the case demonstrated the agency’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and safeguarding national sovereignty in line with directives from Immigration Director General Hendarsam Marantoko.

“We will not tolerate foreign nationals who attempt to violate Indonesian law,” Agus said.
